Ba Gua

In most other forms of Cheng style Ba Gua there are three forms. The first one is about fixed postures, the second one about body changes and the third form are the 8 animals. In Sun style Ba Gua these are combined into one form. Hence we have:

There are 3 ways to practice these 10 forms. Ding Bu (fixed step), Lian Huan (Linked, flowing step), and You Shen (Swimming body, a.ka. changing palms).

Som lineages of Sun Style Bagua have additional practice methods e.g a separate form for only fixed postures, a form of constantly moving, 64 palm form etc. Although the 10 forms are enough, sometimes it is useful to concentrate on one particular aspect.
